Do Bentley engines have a timing belt?
No. Modern Bentley W12 and V8 engines use timing chains, which are designed to last much longer than belts. Chains can still stretch over time, especially with irregular oil changes. A rattle on cold start or a timing fault code is the usual first sign.
Is it worth rebuilding a Bentley W12 engine?
In most cases, yes. The W12 is no longer in production, so keeping the original engine protects your car’s value and authenticity. If the block and heads are sound, a rebuild is usually the most cost-effective long-term fix.
How long does a Bentley engine rebuild take?
Smaller repairs such as a misfire or oil leak are often done within a day or two. A full rebuild takes much longer because the engine has to be removed, stripped and measured. We give you a clear timeline with your quote once parts are confirmed.
Can I keep driving my Bentley with a misfire?
It’s best not to. A flashing check engine light means a severe misfire, and unburnt fuel can overheat and damage the catalytic converters. Book a diagnosis as soon as you notice rough running or a loss of power.
Is an engine rebuild cheaper than a replacement?
Usually, yes, if the block and cylinder heads are undamaged. A replacement only makes sense when the damage is too widespread to repair. We inspect the engine first and show you both prices in writing.
Do you repair Bentley hybrid engines?
Yes. We work on the V6 Hybrid and the V8 Ultra Performance Hybrid. Our checks cover the petrol engine, the high-voltage system and cooling, with full safety procedures before any work begins.
Can you increase my engine’s power during a rebuild?
We rebuild engines to Bentley’s original specification. Dubai’s RTA does not issue permits for major engine changes that alter factory specs, so upgrades like a bigger engine can leave your car unregistrable.
How often should my Bentley engine have a tune-up?
We recommend checking plugs, filters and engine condition at each annual service, which Bentley sets at 12 months or 10,000 miles (about 16,000 km). Dubai’s heat and stop-go traffic count as severe use, so many cars benefit from an earlier check.
